Chronology

  • Born December 5, 1928
  • Graduated from Blue Island High School in 1946
  • Served in Korea from 1950 until 1952
  • Received his BFA from Roosevelt University
  • Taught at Rockford College as an assistant professor of painting in 1969
  • Met Bill Frederick, who would become his life-long partner
  • Earned his M.F.A. degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1976
  • Taught at the Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago; Rockford College, Rockford, IL; Barat College, Lake Forest, IL; and Loyola University, Chicago, where he served as the chairman of the Fine Arts department.
  • Died May 10, 2006
  • The Ralph Arnold Gallery was established at Loyola as a part exhibition/part workspace in tribute to his advocacy for the arts in 2006
